The architectural intention
Venice artist loft
ATELIER is conceived as one townhouse, not a mansion translated into brick. Its clear three-level scale and narrow vertical composition take their cues from an artist’s loft. Subtle adjoining buildings establish an urban setting, while an oxidized red-brick facade and exposed steel lintels make the construction language legible.
Black steel factory-style glazing establishes a precise rhythm across the elevation. The sawtooth-inspired sloping roof interrupts the skyline and gives the upper volume a distinct identity. Light is approached as something to shape through the roof and window pattern, rather than through oversized sheets of glass that erase the wall.
A planted private entry softens the meeting of home and street. Within the concept, spaces for making, reading and gathering are arranged as a vertical domestic sequence. Any real adaptation would need to resolve circulation, daylight, privacy and the applicable building requirements together. The townhouse remains a single architectural study, without a claim of a unit count or a development offering.
